Description:
This is a Model 1854 Austria-Hungary Civil War era bayonet. This was used on the Lorentz, Podewils and Wanzl rifles which were used in large numbers by the U.S. troops. This excellent cruciform blade is just under 19" and just over 25" with a 3 1/4" socket. The blade is near bright with light blotching and scattered oxidation. The neck is stamped 3 3.1 over 84 with a H and a star crest. This comes with a re-built leather scabbard with brass hardware having "r9706" on the frog stud. This may not be original to the bayonet.
