The gun is marked S/N 35162 with a manufacturing date of 1877. This serial number is marked on the frame, trigger guard and butt strap. The shortened number 5162 is masrked on the cylinder with the batch number 1459 marked on the inside of the loating gate. The inspectors marks "JTC" is marked on the barrel under the ejector housing, CPin the same ares, O & C stamped on the back side of the cylinder. The upper sseft side of the trigger guardis stamped "45". The gun is Niclel finished with a 4 3/4" barrel, and non-factory 2 piece Stag grips. The Nickel finish appears to be either original or a very early modification as it appears well worn but without bare marks or flacking of the finish. The finish would rate 80-90% The Stag grips fit very snugly and are without splits or chips. Altogether the finish on this gun would rate very good. Mechanically the gun operates as designed including a smooth 4 click trigger, the cylinder is tight to the frame with only a very slight movement when the gun is cocked.
