Winchester Model 1897 - Slide Action Repeater - 12 Ga. Shotgun - Walnut pistol grip style stock with grooved slide handle forend and butt plate. 5 round tubular magazine with the original 2 round wooden plug. 30 In. long full choke barrel with front bead sight. Bore is clean and bright. Barrel and receiver are retaining approx. 85- 90 % bluing. Stock and forend are in excellent condition with minimal handling marks. Includes a new soft sleeve. This is a John M. Browning design that became famous during WWI with it's external hammer slam fire design . It was offered in a number of configurations from the standard Field series for hunting to a Trench warfare model with bayonet lug for close combat. Over one million were sold from 1897 to 1957. The overall condition of this one is exceptional for it's age and appears to have had very little use. Manufactured in 1908. A beautiful addition to any shotgun collection.
