Description:
Remington The Sportsman (U.S Ordnance Marking) in 12 Gauge. The Remington Model 11 and its variant, The Sportsman, was introduced in 1905 as a licensed copy of Browning's Auto-5. Though similar, the Model 11 and Sportsman are different in magazine capacity. The 11 holds 4+1, while the Sportsman only fits 2+1. This shotgun has U.S. Ordnance stampings on the left side of the receiver and on top of the barrel. On the stock is a faint "Ordnance Wheel" featuring a flaming bomb atop two crossed-cannons and circled by a gunner's belt. It also has an F.J.A. cartouche for Colonel Frank J. Atwood. These shotguns were used for training gunners and for sentry duty. The shotgun was manufactured in 1940. 12 Gauge
