Here is a very nice old Winchester 1873 2nd Model. This rifle has the screwed on rail ( a Second Model trait) for the dust cover and no caliber marking as they were all .44-40. Bore is very good, probably a 7-8 on a 1-10 scale. Wood is all there, unsanded with one minor fine crack in the forend (pictured) and a small piece missing by the toe. Action seems to work fine. The old tang sight needs some adjustment as the spring doesn't hold it up-right. Very little finish left after 143 years. Lettering and screwheads in good condition. The rifle looks like it was never disassembled but the sideplates have been cleaned some.
For a rifle that was around during the OK Corral shoot-out, this rilfe is in good shape. Priority mail and insurance included to the lower 48. No paperwork needed other than proof of age as this rifle is an antique.
