Roger Rule's Book, "The Rifleman's Rifle the Winchester Model 70 Standard Weight 270 Win Cal. This beautiful early 1948 Model 70 rifle with a rare 24" barrel and original period leather sling is in collector's condition. All original and everything, including the leather sling, is in excellent plus condition. I have never seen a Model 70 this old and this nice in my 40 years of collecting. I would rate both the furniture and metal at 98+%. The wood has very nice figure and the varnish shines. Howard’s Feed & Wax was used to bring out the beautiful high shine. The owner took great care of this rifle and must have rarely used it. I found two tiny marks in the buttstock which are very hard to see, you must look hard for them. Comes with a scope base and rings.
