SOLD....Antique 1892 Winchester. Here is a nice and honest antique 1892 Winchester. S/N 96949 and made in 1895. It is in the very best shooting caliber 38-40 in the 1892's and the 1873's. It has the standard 24” round barrel. The bore is very good and is above average.. It has strong rifling with VERY minor light roughness and frosting. No big pits and no rings or bulges. Mechanics are excellent. It feeds, fires and ejects like new. The action is smooth as silk. This gun shoots real nice and is very accurate. Both hammer notches are perfect and positive. The gun is basically a no finish gun and is now a nice and smooth medium brown patina that has never been cleaned on or messed with. It still shows the factory machine marks on the receiver and the barrel. All the screw heads are clean and sharp and most look like they have never been turned with no tool marks. It still retains the original front and rear sights. The wood has no splits or cracks. It fits skin tight to all the metal all around with no gaps.. It has a few honest usage dents and dings and looks to have had a coat of varnish long ago.. The butt stock still fits proud to the lower tang and perfectly even on the upper tang and to the receiver. The forearm sits slightly below the end cap and receiver on the bottom edges but fits even or proud on the sides of the cap and receiver. All the markings are excellent. Over all this is a nice and honest 92 that has a real nice bore and shoots straight. These are getting harder to find at reasonable prices and not being messed with.
