The Model 1898 is a bolt action rifle that is believed to be chambered in .30-40 Krag and exhibits the smooth cycling action of the bolt that has become the hallmark of the Krag rifle. These bolt-action rifles were adopted in 1892, as the standard United States Army military long gun, but were quickly replaced by the Springfield 1903.
