This .30-06 caliber semi-automatic rifle was that standard U.S. service rifle during World War II and the Korean War and also saw service during the Vietnam War. Most were issued to U.S. forces, though some were also provided as foreign aid to American allies. To say that it was and is highly regarded would be an understatement. In the words of General Patton, “In my opinion, the M1 rifle is the greatest battle implement ever devised.” This one has a Springfield Armory receiver dating to March 1945. The barrel is marked 1 SA 3 45 with a punchdot and “P” proof mark. The bolt is marked 6528287 HRA -U-. The oprod is marked NM and 7790722-RA. The receiver leg is marked 0 7 9 and D 28291 35 2. The trigger group is marked D28290-7-SA and the hammer C46008-8 SA. The overall condition is good. The action is excellent. The bore is a tight .300 that is bright with sharp rifling. The barrel is marked by Blue Sky. The stock has been refinished with a shiny clear coat and some finger grooves on the pistol grip. There is a small repair at the toe.
