This a very stunning modle 1890 rifle made in 1912 most likely SS # 498576 made in the 1912 . . This model 1890 is rare having a original pistol grip stock with nickel inlays by the original owner OR by secondary owners ? It also known as a 1/2 nickel rifle with "trimmings". last but not lease I found a very fancy exhibition Walnut with fine checkering and a nickle Schuetzen butt plate (carved much later in the rifles history), this is a very high end option .It very well been made by the last Winchester carver John Durrkin it fits perfectly on the rifle ! Sadly he passed in the 1960s. The rifle comes with both stocks you can place the Schuetzen on another 1890 RIFLE and have as is ?
The scope is a original LYMAN A 5 scope that I had sent out to PARSONS SCOPE SERVICE for a total reconditioning of the opetic and cross hairs. The bluing is in very good condition but not perfect see my scans . It also comes with a vintage style rubber eyepiece. This rifle is for 22 WRF only,ammo is available and is fun to shoot this early magnum 22.please see my scans.. I would say the finish wood , nickel and all the bluing is near excellent +. The boar is bright and no pitting BORE IS NEAR MINT! keep in mind the late end of the rum rifles had smokeless powder not black powder 22s.
