This is a Navy Arms, Ridgefield,NJ, authentic replica of the Springfield Model U.S. 1863. It is a .58 caliber and the serial number is 1541. It is unfired and as new, with the original box. All metal parts are finished bright except the case hardened lock. Eagle motif on the bolster and lock with a 1864 date on the lock. This was the last U.S. martial regulation of the muzzle-loading design. It was used extensively during the Civil War. A historically important firearm.
