Description:
For your consideration, an S/42 (Mauser) P.08 Luger pistol chambered in 9x19. The frame, barrel, barrel extension, trigger, takedown lever, safety lever, safety block, and sear are all numbered together, while the extractor, bolt, front and rear toggles, and firing pin are numbered together. The magazine nor rear toggle pin match either numbered grouping, nor one another. Per the "G" marking, this piece dates to 1935, the first publicly acknowledged year of the Third Reich's rearmament efforts. Strawed components retain at best 40% of their finish excepting the ejector which rates at 90%. Considering the "X" prefix appending the barrel extension serial, W. German nitro proof and caliber markings on the underside of the barrel, 1985 Mellrichstadt Proof House stamps on the interior of the frame, and the original arsenal markings on the barrel extension having been ground off, this is evidently a Russian capture piece which was eventually reimported to W. Germany. Marked with an eagle over 63 Waffenamt, the magazine is of Mauser make from between 1935-39. The included P.83 holster is a reproduction and contains a P.38 magazine. 9mm Luger
