Among the finest of "best quality" sidelock double rifles on the market today is this offering of an extraordinary 600 Nitro Express by Wilfried Glanznig, widely regarded as one of the finest gunmakers in all of Austria. It stands to reason that he would only commission the finest engraver to further embellish his firearms as well. This particular piece was engraved by Joachim Deflorian, of similar premiere standing as one of the very best in Austria.
The supreme quality of workmanship and precise fit and finish demonstrated throughout, along with the ultra fine checkering and miniscule details of the engraving are truly mind boggling to behold, and can only be fully appreciated while in hand.
This fantastic rifle features 25 1/2" barrels, engraved ramps for front and rear sights, automatic ejectors with a rare and desirable ejector cutoff switch, double triggers, pistol grip with horn cap, reinforced top strap, pancake cheekpiece, and Pachmayr recoil pad.
The LOP is 14 1/2" from front trigger to edge of pad.
Other than the recoil pad which does show some notable age breakdown of its edges, the rifle's general condition is virtually as new with lustrous rust blued metal components, coin finish receiver and a breathtaking, highly figured wood set of French Walnut. The bores are minty and it locks up like a bank vault. It weighs in at 12 lbs.
It comes in the maker's felt lined hard case complete with compartmentalized cleaning rods/supplies and 2 snap caps. S/N 53136
