Description:
The concealed carry Kahr PM40 is a .40 S&W single-stack double action only (DAO) striker-fired semi-automatic. PM stands for "polymer micro". Obviously, the black frame is polymer construction and lightweight. The gun is impressively small and wrapped around a 3.1" barrel with polygonal rifling and a 1:16 RH twist ratio. The gun ships with either a trio of 5-round flush-mount or three 6-round finger-extension magazines. Capacity is thus 5+1 or 6+1. The gun is all black: a matte black frame and a blackened stainless-steel slide. The gun is only 5.47" long. It's 4.0" tall, and the slide is made of 416 steel bar stock. Thanks to the single-stack grip architecture, the PM40 cheats the calipers of a full inch and measures just .94" wide. Not surprisingly, with the polymer frame and small dimensions, the gun is light. Very light. It's only 15.8 ounces, and the stainless steel magazines only weighs 1.9 ounces. They also have counting holes, which is always a nicely appreciated touch. Atop the blackened stainless steel slide you'll find drift-adjustable tritium night sights. The hammerless Kahr is designed for easy and reliable snag-free operation. Trigger pull weight is 7.0 pounds. Pull the trigger and there's a short recoil operation to ready the next round. There's also a passive striker block but no magazine disconnect. The grip flanks are textured polymer while front and back are nicely stippled. The trigger guard has a tilt up toward the muzzle. It's a modified oval that cinches a bit above and below the trigger giving the gun a unique profile. Who would think that the founder, designer and brains behind Kahr is none other than Justin Moon, a son of the late Reverend Sun Myung Moon? The company is headquartered in Greeley, Pennsylvania and production is 200+ miles east in Worcester, Massachusetts. Kahr emphasizes advanced computer utilization, CAD/CAM, 3D modeling and precise CNC machining with utmost quality in mind.
