Named for its founders, the Aguirre brothers and Nicholas Aranzabal, AYA was formed in 1917, in Eibar in the Basque region of northern Spain. The center of Spanish firearm manufacturing for centuries, Eibar is a short drive south of the Bay of Biscay and deep in the picturesque Basque country that is separated from France by the high Pyrenees mountains.
The 27” blued steel barrels have 3" chambers, a tapered smooth concave game rib with a silver bead front sight and are choked Cylinder & Improved Cylinder. The rib reads "AYA~AGUIRRE & ARANZABAL~MADE IN SPAIN". The case color hardened finished action is adorned with border engraving and "AYA AGUIRRE & ARANZABAL" on both sides of action body.
The gun features disc set strikers, automatic checkered and engraved safety slide, smooth single trigger protected by a right side rolled edge engraved blued trigger guard extending to a long bottom strap with the guns serial number. Best quality Turkish walnut stock with straight hand diamond grip, drop points and vacant stock oval, 14-1/4" LOP to a checkered butt, Cast Off 1/8" at face, splinter forend with Anson release,Weight 6 Lbs. - 1 Oz. DAC 1-1/8", DAH 2-3/8, Auto Safety.
