Description:
This is an original 18th Century hand forged Iron Camp/Belt Knife in very good condition for its age. Is it the predecessor to the Hudson Bay Camp Knife? The blade is very heavy (ideal for fighting, splitting wood or general camp use). The handle is fire hardened and blackened wood a-fixed with rusted iron rivets. It is 14 1/4 inches overall, with the blade being 9 1/4 inches. An outstanding collectible for those that love hand forged iron, antique knives, 18th Century primitives, and old weapons. Note the heavy blood rust pitting on the point of the blade. Also you can see were much steel has been worn away from repeated stoning to keep it sharp. That has changed the contour of the blade. Maybe from used to kilt a bar!!
