Description:
For your consideration, a Colt M1911A1 chambered in .45 Automatic. This piece is a composite of an earlier, pre-A1 Colt frame with a Second World War-era slide. The frame still retains it's pre-A1 short spur grip safety, long trigger, and smooth, flat mainspring housing, and dates to 1919. Frame markings consist of the serial, a gov't property marking, the "AA" of Augusta Arsenal, and an eagle over S12 proof. The 1911A1 slide shows the characteristic muzzle discoloration of wartime spot-heat treatment and is marked with a "P" proof between the rear sight and ejection port. .45 Auto
