Description:
An excellent example of an unaltered U.S. Model 1816 Flintlock pistol, manufactured by Simeon North, Middledton, Conn. It is a .54 caliber smoothbore, with 9 1/16" round barrel: brass blade front sight that is mounted on the forward strap of the double barrel band. The hickory ramrod has the swelled tip and the opposite end has an iron ferrule threaded for cleaning and ball removal. The barrel is marked with a "P" firing proof and "US" on the left side and "RJ" inspector mark on the right side in line with the brass pan. There is an oval cartouche on the left side of the stock, but the mark is weak. There is a small crack in the stock about 3/4" below and towards the fron of the lockplate. Overall condition is excellent and mechanically fine.
