Here is a excellent 12-bore example of the venerable AYA No. 4/53 BOXLOCK EJECTOR, which is additionally proofed for magnum steel shot, carrying the fluer-de-lis proof stamp, and made in 2008. With this gun you could enjoy all of the shooting disciplines, from upland shooting, to sporting clays, as well as at a local shooting ground that may require steel shot or wildfowling. The current retail price for this gun, and built to these specifications is almost $9000. This gun handles beautifully and is an excellent opportunity to own and shoot a truly hand-made shotgun. Chopperlump barrels. This is one of the most reliable and robust side-by-sides that you can buy, and is handmade to the highest standards. Each peice is hand-fitted to every other piece, unlike machine made side-by-sides, which are just assembled from non-matching parts.
This gun is in excellent all around condition, with a nice piece of walnut on the stock and fore end, and sharp checkering. The top lever is about 1/8" to the right of center, indicating that the sliding underbolt is properly engaged with the lumps. The action is tight, and closes with a satisfying "clunk." Metal-to-metal and wood-to-metal fit is excellent. Nicely-figured stock finished with hand-rubbed oil. Barrel-blueing is also in excellent condtion, with only some loss where the fore-end wood contacts the barrels, which is typical of all guns. Stock and grip shape is excellent. There is one superficial scratch on the inside of the right barrel tube, which may be from a cleaning rod.
