Very Nice 1920s Sidearm!
Here we present a C&R Post-World War I Era DWM Luger Pistol, made circa the 1920s by DWM in Berlin, Germany. Basing his design off Hugo Borchardt’s seminal C93, Georg Luger successfully brought Borchardt’s work to practical fruition. While finding buyers for the C93 seemed an exercise in futility, the new Luger Pistol found many countries eager to test it and even adopt it. There are many variations in this field of collecting, but relatively few major changes in overall design from beginning to end. The Luger is certainly one of the most iconic firearms in history, made so by its association with Germany during both World Wars.
The “Crown over N” proof mark is marked throughout the pistol. The Crown over N is a German pre-World War II proof mark used before April 1, 1940. The "N" indicates that the gun has been proofed with "nitro" or smokeless powder. The top of the toggle is marked “DWM”. “GERMANY” is marked on the right side of the frame and the wooden magazine base.
The overall condition is fine. Original blue finish and straw colors. The numbers match. The grips are in great shape. The inside of the left panel has a faint name scribed in. It is not all that clear. The action is excellent. The bore is bright with sharp rifling. A very clean, well-preserved Luger made before World War II!
