Description:
Rare 1894 Winchester Short Rifle manufactured in 1927. 20" octagon barrel and full magazine tube, .30 WCF. Very interesting short rifle being that it was made in 1927 and Winchester was getting ready to make the transition to mainly make the 20" carbine exclusively. Late rifles over the 1 million serial range are seldomly encountered let alone factory short rifles. This short rifle is correct in all its dimensions: short forend wood, correct front and rear sight dimensions, muzzle measurements are correct, and etc. Barrel and magazine retain over 90% of their original blue. The bore is excellent, I will rate it a 9 on a scale from 1 to 10. Receiver retains maybe 10% of it's original blue with the remainder a nice smooth gray / brown patina. The receiver finish flaked off which was a common problem Winchester had with 94's manufactured in this time period. Action functions smoothly and locks up as it should. Both forend and buttstock are in very good condition, retaining most of their original finish. There is a tiny crack in the left side of forend near forend cap but it is sound and tight (see pic). All in all just a great Special Order Factory 1894 Winchester Short Rifle that will look nice in any collection. Must ship to a FFL or Curio and Relics license holder. This firearm as with any other should be checked first by a gunsmith before any attempt is made to operate / fire it. Please feel free to ask questions.
