Description:
This listing is for an Anschutz model 54 sporter 1430-1434 deluxe chambered in 22 hornet. This model was made in the mid 1970s and is stamped Ulm, West Germany. I have personally owned this firearm for about 5 years and have enjoyed it exclusively at a 100 yd indoor range working up pet loads. This is a very accurate rifle shooting a 35gr v-max I've gotten multiple sub 1/2" 5 shot groups. I've been very pleased with the crasftsmanship of this rifle but have found myself moving to shotgun sports and am selling to fund my clay shooting hobby.
The over all condition of the rifle is about 95% the bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. The stock is quite a stand out and has lots of lovely grain compared to other anschutz rifles of the same era. The action is very smooth as the 54 action is known for and the lockup is tight the bolt is stamped and matches the last 3 of the serial number. This model comes with the more rare double set triggers and they work very nicely with a clean and crisp break. One 5 round steel magazine is included with this rifle.
Unique to this rifle is a custom made set of Suhler Claw mounts with a Zeiss Diatal-D 4x rifle scope fitted to match. These mounts are quite impressive and the lockup for the scope is absolutely perfect and snug. The Zeiss scope has a German #1 reticle and the optic is extremely clear with very large eye box. While it wasn't my favorite reticle for shooting groups, I have added a set of D3 precision 11mm dovetail 0.9" scope rings designed for optics with a 1" tube. I often shot with these rings or open sights.
I'm also including a box of 100 new Remington R-P cases because in my experience hand loading is the only reasonable way to enjoy 22 hornet.
1907 sling is available as I purchased it for the rifle but never used it as I hadn't looked very hard for hooks to work with the sling and rifle.
