This is a truly handsome pistol that retains 70-75% of the original muted color case-hardening on the barrel cluster, with some thin specks of mild freckling between the ribs. The nickel frame, color case-hardened hammer, and blued trigger guard have crisp floral scrollwork engraving, while the lion head grip cap has an overall bright gray patina. The curved grip has walnut panels with some minor surface scratches marring the otherwise fine original varnish, and the lozenge-shaped grip screw bolsters are nicely engraved as well. The action is tight and functions flawlessly. The pistol is housed in a period wooden case with relined interior and an intact Westley Richards retailer label on the interior of the lid. Also included are: a Dixon flask with bullet compartment; ebony-handled nipple wrench; single cavity bullet mold; loading rod; wad cutter; Eley cap tin; and some spare cast lead bullets. This is a great-looking British pepperbox, in excellent overall condition, handsomely cased with accessories. Antique SOLD Antique: Yes |
