Description:
SALE PENDING

These 7 firearms are being offered as a single lot.  Pricing for this lot is very reasonable and is firm (note: my original price was based on including an 8th Item, which I had decided not to sell, so the price has been reduced accordingly)..  I am not interested in selling single items from this group at this time.  I am including some basic pictures of the overall group and will offer detailed pictures for serious inquiries only.    Shipping cost is not included in the price.  It may be possible for delivery if reasonable distance from Dallas, TX.

  • Sharps M1859 Carbine - brass mounted (in correct serial number range).   This one is well used but is original and complete.. markings light (especially tang serial number)
  • Confederate P53 Enfield - This one is number 3788A with matching rod.   This one is also well used with lots of wear.. has long range sight housing but no ladder.   This one has a tag on it stating it was purchased in the Ft. Worth area in 2009 and has a family attribution but I could never connect the supplied name to anyone.
  • Confederate M1858 “Naval” Enfield - This one has number 687 on buttplate as well as JS anchor on stock.  All in pretty decent shape but the ramrod is not original to the rifle.    Its an original enfield rod that has been shortened, looks fine but although it fits in channel but does not fit well overall as it is tight on the final band.   This one has an added interest as “JMC” is clearly carved into the buttstock… after the ‘C’ it looks like the rest of the last name is there which would be Crump.    On p.198 of The English Connection there is mention that a few companies of the 21st Mississippi had these “marine enfields” and JM Crump was with the 21st MS.
  • Sharps M1859 Rifle - Berdan Sharpshooter rifle.   In the Berdan serial number range, JT cartouche visible, OWA inspector mark on barrel.   All original with exception of hammer screw which looks to be a period replacement.  I have collected Berdans for a while and am very familiar with these rifles
  • Springfield M1855 musket dated 1858 on lock (date on barrel but hard to make out).  All complete.   Has “11 CV” stamping on buttstock (along with an “I  71” below it for 11th Conn Vol and presumably the company with some arbitrary number).  These markings are also found on some of the 36” barrelled M1859 Sharps “Egyptian” rifles that the state purchased prior to the war.  The 8th CV also marked in a similar fashion but for some reason theirs were stamped upside down on the buttstock.
  • Springfield M1861 musket dated 1862 on lock.  No rear sight.   Has a period “91 P.V.V.” along with a V corps badge carved in stock (91st PA - Army of Potomac from 9/62-6/65).  Interestingly it had multiple brigade and division assignments as normal, but was always in V Corps.  There are some traces of what might be red wax in the corp badge carving indicating it was done when they were in the 1st division, but obviously just speculation
  • Potts & Hunt iron mounted short enfield.  It doesn’t have the extended key found on the P56 so I believe this is a P60.  Well worn but complete, has a saber bayonet with it as well (not pictured).   This one has no other markings but interestingly enough has a numbered ramrod (507).   This rod is thicker than the channel found on #3 otherwise it might have been a better fit there, but I don’t like to swap parts out on anything and keep em just as found unless I have a reason to change something out.
