Description:
For sale is an original sight hood off a Winchester Model 54 that was produced in 1936.
For a few years in the later Model 54 Production, this style hood was used used on the NRA Sporter style-stocked guns in larger calibers. I have seen some of these Model 54 style guns with the exact hood. The front of the hood was Flat (Vertical)
and the back was rounded. For some reason, Winchester didn't seem to use this style in the 22 Hornet in the Model 54. And, they changed the style of the hood with the Model 70's.
Please note, there was a beautiful Model 54 on Guns International in 257 Roberts with the same style hood. It only lasted a day or so and then was sold. I have studied and had Model 54's over the years and have found this to be correct.
I must confess that I am a fan of the Model 54's over the Model 70's. They were all hand-finished guns. I particularly like the NRA Sporter style guns.
The sight is in excellent condition for its age.
