OUTSTANDING SET CONSISTING OF A STEVENS .22 LR NEW MODEL POCKET RIFLE WITH MATCHING STOCK AND ORIGINAL LEATHER HOLSTER/CASE, #31XXX. This is the first holster made specifically for the Pocket Rifle and stock that I've seen. I don't think there were many to begin with and being leather most wouldn't have survived the last 110+ years. The New Model Pocket Rifle was made from 1896-1916. This example in .22 Long Rifle has a 12" half octagon barrel with the correct globe with pinhead inside and a small blade on top of the globe along with the original rear ladder sight with slide intact (these sights often changed or missing). The barrel retains about all the deep blue and has the correct J. Stevens A & T Co. markings. The receiver retains most of the nickel pating with only some freckling on the right side. The receiver grip straps, butt, bottom and trigger guard retain the bright nicklel. Fine walnut grips. The "wire" stock is numbered to the gun and also shows most of the original nickel with only some normal freckling on the edges. Correct knurled connecting screw with the stock, fine blue on the hammer, tight action and lock-up, strong safety half-cock and the bore is fine+ (dirty when I got it, so I ran a brush and a few patches through it which cleaned it up- more brushing should bring it better, but still fine as is). The Leather flap holster with belt loop is excellent and retains the strap and buckle for fastening. All stitched seams are solid and strong as is the belt loop and base plug. Truly, it is in remarkable condition. A fine condition New Model Pocket rifle with ratching stock and an outstanding and rare holster!
