I have a LEFT-HAND Remington Model 1100, 12 ga.,3 inch Magnum with a 30 inch vent-rib fixed FULL choke barrel. I've contacted RemIngton regarding the date and barrel markings. "BQ" refers to the manufactured date (1978) and "40" refers to an inspector. I am the original owner and bought this shotgun new which has seen VERY little use other than clay targets. Only modification made was to swap-out the original front bead sight with a highly-visible fiber-optic. I've identified 2 very small blemishes...first is a minute chip on the finish shown by a yellow arrow in the pic where the recoil pad meets the stock. Second, the blueing is well-preserved overall other than some wear on the receiver indicated by a white arrow in the pic. This firearm was always properly stored in my guncase and in July 2024 a Cabelas appraiser gave it a 98% condition. Discontinued in 1978 this hard-to-find MAHOGONY Stock (per Remington) has a patina only achivable after 46 years of aging... giving it stunning character while retaining its factory high-gloss finish free of dings and scratches. Fully functional this long-range shotgun is simply a well-preserved iconic firearm. I'm retired now and sadened to part with it as no one in my family is left-handed nor have they acquired a taste for the shooting sports. Someone needs to put this shotgun to use. $1,100 + FFL shipping.
