Description:
This is a (JM) Marlin 338MX chambered for .338 Marlin Express. This rifle has the push safety on the receiver that blocks the hammer. Marking on the left side of the barrel "338MX", "THE MARLIN FIREARMS CO. NORTH HAVEN, CT. U.S.A. / * * * * MODEL 338MX – CAL. MARLIN EXPRESS * * * *". The left side of the barrel at the receiver is marked with the "JM" proof. The left side of the receiver is marked with the serial number "91003973". The right side of the barrel is marked with Marlin's two-lined warning. The front sight is a hooded brass bead blade atop a serrated ramped riser that is screwed to the barrel. The rear sight is a flip up semi-buckhorn U-notch elevator sight that is dovetailed to the barrel. The top of the receiver is drilled, tapped, and filled in four places for mounting a scope. The stocks are two-piece checkered wood with a banded forearm, capped pistol grip, fluted straight comb, sling stud front and rear, and a firm rubber Marlin buttpad with a black spacer. The Marlin Bullseye is present in the belly. This example is in excellent condition with a couple faint blemishes. No box. .338 MAG
