Payment Types Accepted: Check or Money Order Description: One of the rarest knives made by Western, a very small number of these W-31 USMC Parachutist knives were made for a very small number of USMC Parachute troops which only trained at 2 locations in the US from 1941-1943. They were never marked with the "Western" brand and only stamped on one side of the ricasso "U.S.M.C." These were all to be turned in at the completion of training which is why they are so rare to come up for sale. I assume this one was "forgotten" in someone's duffle, and as you see quite often with Gov't. issued items from this era that made it home, the "USMC" was ground off. Even with the USMC removed, there is no dispute to what this was, the lanyard hole in the pommel with 2 pins on either side, full tang with split spacers and cocobolo scales and most distinctive the thin fuller only on one side of the blade easily identifies this knife. The sheaths have been a topic of debate because they have been found in a variety of sheaths from the period, some unmarked but the most common one is this floral design with the single stitch is one of the more common ones seen. Overall a very rare, solid WW2 knife in good condition. See pictures for details, any questions please ask, US shipping only. See my other listings for similar items. SOLD |
