Description:
This is a USMC, Mills marked, H plate, dark blue woven cartridge belt, single loop for the 45-70 government cartridges used by the Springfield Trapdoor rifle having 50 large bullet loops. The belt is in excellent condition with some light dust with the loops still flexible with a total length of 55". The inside is marked USMC in white. The brass H buckle is in excellent condition with great patina, slight scratching, excellent EGA, original to the buckle. The back of the buckle is clearly marked "ANSON MILLS, PAT. FEB. 1 1881. T.C. ORNDORFF SOLE MANF.WORCHESTER MASS.U.S.A." This is an excellent example and is very rare indeed.
