"Serial No. 447314B, made in 1893, .22 short, 24" octagonal barrel marked “WINCHESTER’S REPEATING ARMS NEW HAVEN. CONN. U.S.A./ -KING’S IMPROVEMENT PATENTED MARCH 29.1866 OCTOBER 16.1860- “. Bore is good with light frosting visible in the grooves, rifling remains present. Finish is mostly a smooth light brown patina with the edges a visible grey patina, traces of blue is noted in protected areas. Forward of the receiver is marked “22 SHORT", 3RD model dust cover remains present. Tang has a Lyman peep sight added and shares the same patina as the rest of the rifle. Brass carrier has a faint “22 CAL/SHORT" visible. Wood is smooth with a light polish on the surface, minimal nicks and scratches are noted. Action is smooth and functions correctly.
