"Serial No. 295088, made in 1889, .32 W.C.F., 24" octagonal barrel marked “WINCHESTER’S REPEATING ARMS NEW HAVEN. CONN. U.S.A./ -KING’S IMPROVEMENT PATENTED MARCH 29.1866 OCTOBER 16.1860- “Bore is dark with oxidation noted in the grooves, rifling is visible. Magazine tube is 22 ¼" in length, finish has turned to a grey patina with scattered surface oxidation noted. Forward of the receiver is marked with “32 W.C.F.", Tang is marked “MODEL 1873" in between decorative scroll. Brass carrier has “32 CAL" inscribed in the brass. Forearm is a later replacement; butt stock is in very good condition with light handling wear noted. Lower tang is marked “XXX", action is smooth and functions correctly.
