The Christensen Arms Ranger 22 is a precision bolt-action rimfire rifle chambered around inexpensive .22 LR ammunition and includes a guarantee for sub-MOA at 50 yards.
The gun’s lightest configuration is only 5.1 pounds thanks to a lightweight made in-house carbon fiber tension barrel anchored to a carbon fiber composite rimfire stock.
The gun also has other key made in-house components such as the black anodized aluminum receiver. The gun features a threaded bolt handle, dual ejectors and dual opposing locking lugs.
In front is a felt-recoil reducing stainless steel muzzle brake screwed on to a 1/2\"x28 TPI thread. The muzzle brake is, of course, removable, and the gun comes with a thread protector for when the brake is not in use.
There are two stock schemes: one is matte black with what Christensen Arms calls gray on black webbing and the other is green with black and tan webbing. These aren’t spiderpatterns but rather random string or dripping paint patterns. The effect is much more beautiful and effective than can be described.
This gun has nice details. It has a 0 MOA Picatinny rail bridging the ejector port, and the bolt is a twin-lug design that requires sophisticated engineering.
The barrel is perfectly smooth on the outside, but button-rifled with six grooves on the inside. Hand lapping gives the barrel exterior an elegant spiral carbon fiber pattern. The carbon fiber composite stock has a backward leaning flat forend, an integrated ambidextrous grip, palm swell and sling studs. There is seemingly almost no felt recoil, but even then, there is a wonderfully thick ridged recoil pad to mitigate any such forces.
Below is a single-stage match-grade Made in Canada TriggerTech Rem 700 trigger known for its high quality and zero-creep movement. It’s made mainly of 440C stainless steel and sits in a 7075 aluminum housing. It’s factory-set to about 3 pounds of pull.
