About Us: I have collected interesting firearms for about 60 years, and am a Benefactor/Life NRA member. I feel that it is now time to start selling a few things. Description:
Remington 40 X Target Rifle, Single Shot, Chambered in 300 Winchester Magnum. I bought this rifle from my friend John in 1984. He special ordered it from Remington about June of 1982. He had visions of using it to hunt Wyoming Elk at long range. I helped him get it sighted in and practice shooting at 500 yards and in the fall of 1983 he got his elk. John went through hunting rifles like water, and once he had taken the elk, he wanted something else. I bought the 40 X and John went out and got a .300 Weatherby (I got the Weatherby 2 years later). This 40 X has had about 200 rounds put through it and you can tell by the almost perfect jeweling of the bolt that it has had little use beyond that. The bore is excellent and accurate. According to my old RCBS trigger pull guage, the trigger breaks crisply at just under two pounds. All of the 300 Magnum rifles were, of course, single shots. This one does not have the 2 ounce trigger, but the pull weight on this one is adjustable. The Barrel is stainless steel and is 27 1/4" long. It has a non slip flat rubber buttplate. There are a few little scratches and dings in the stock from when he took it after Elk (see pictures). Overall, the rifle is in excellent condition. It has Redfield type bases installed and it is also factory drilled and tapped for a target scope. It is also factory ready for a globe front sight and a peep sight if that were your preference. The stock is walnut and has a nice grain. If you are considering a long range, very accurate target rifle, this just may be the one for you.

RETURN POLICY- All firearms come with a 3-day non firing, no-tinkering with (turning screws, taking apart, removing parts, scoping. firing, cleaning or altering in any way) inspection/return privilege. Inspection is based on a visual review of the firearm to confirm that it is in the condition stated. In the case of a return, the buyer pays all shipping charges. Please ask questions.
