This is a Remington Model 1917 Enfield, chambered in 30-06, manufactured in January of 1919.
This gun needs some serious TLC. I believe it is all original, but over the years it has not been well cared for. The stock is currently painted green, it appears to have blue paint under the green. The barrel has a lot of speckled rust. The buttplate and trigger guard have rust. The hinged floorplate is missing a screw.
***We cannot find a caliber marking, but it should be a 30-06 based off our research. We urge you to have a gunsmith verify the caliber before firing a round in the weapon.
The front end of the barrel has an ordnance bomb stamp along with the letter R and the numbers 9-18 (which should be a date code) - the Remington serial number search sight indicates the firearm was manufactured Jan. 1919. (S# 645379)
The rear end of the barrel is stamped with ordance bombs, as is the bolt and the side of the reciever.
