Payment Types Accepted: Money Order, Personal or Bank Check Description: Inscribed/Identified early Colt Root model 1855 revolver, .31 caliber, 5-shot, this exact revolver is referenced in "COLT'S HISTORY AND HEROES, BY JOHN G. HAMILTON, PAGE #19". Serial #2939, backstrap engraved "ANDREW WALTERS FROM HIS SHOPMATES, NEW YORK 6 JUNE 1861". Authorities that have viewed this inscription believe that it was engraved at the Colt factory. The metal overall is a mottled grey patina. Very good+ barrel & cylinder markings. Very fine mechanics. Grips are very good+ with much original varnish remaining, some scuffing to bottom edges. Andrew A. Walters enlisted 07/01/1861 and was assigned to the 79th New York Infantry (Highlanders) as a Private. Records show he deserted 07/23/1861 at Bull Run, VA. Accompanied by a folder of information. Inscribed early Colt Root revolvers are uncommon. From my personal collection. SOLD Antique: Yes |
