Description:
SALE PENDING JERRY L. MICH. 11/22/24..1 OF 2
Half the folks alive today have no knowledge of the Spiegle Catalogue; primarily a seller of womens cloating in the 50's and 60's and possibly before, much like Sears and others founded to the best of our knowledge in 1865 ! Spiegle, much like Sears, Western Auto and many others were the equivalent of todays Lou Horton and Lipseys...These companies would order an existing model of firearm (from Marlin as in this case, Winchester, Mossberg, High Standard and no doubt others) but often speced out a little different from the standard offering of the actual manufacture ...sometimes they were nicer than the standard offering. Marlin at the time (starting in approx 1963) offerd 10 differnt carvings which have been referred to as "panograms" (the most sought after was the squirrel on the 90th anniversay model 22's), the Spiegle buck was one of the 10. We do not know how many were actually made but we can tell you this is only the 2d one we have seen or had. The option was avail at the time for a little under $ 20.00 (some of the "squirrel guns have sold well in excess of $ 3000.00)
The butt plate was chipped and has been replaced ...there was minor damage to the stock; we had our exceptional stock man do the repair.
Blue is slightly faded with some browning in places but still at approx 80% overall .
There is a 2d gun shown in some of the pics...the 2d gun is 4th yr production (1952) RC Waffle Top in near new condtion chambered in 30 30. The 2d gun is from my own collection (have had it for many years). The 1952 gun is not listed but may be purchased for 995.00 It will ship with a copy of my drivers lic or pistol permit..not our FFL as it belongs to me, not the business. Pls be sure you're receiving FFL will accept it this way...a copy of our FFL will be provided also.
The 2d gun is the last picture
This is an extraordinary example of the rare Spiegel guns offered in what was more or less a woman's catalogue, not unlike Sears at the time founded in 1865!  In 1962 Marlin introduced a special carved stock offering as a $ 19.95 option. There were 10 or so different carvings of which the Spiegel Buck was one. The now sought after squirrel was admittedly prettier and much more rare than the "Spiegel Buck" however we have had several Squirrel Marlins and this is the lst Spiegel we have actually seen. We are in Ct just 40 miles or so from the Old Marlin Company location and many unique Marlins have come our way. This gun referring to the 2d gun..not the Speigle gun seems to be unfired and in not far from new condition ...there are 3 small safe marks that i can determine but otherwise exactly as when it was made 1963 , 55 yrs ago....AS NEW
