***SOLD*** Very difficult to find, unaltered 1st year production Model 54 in .30GOV'T'06 caliber.
S/N 2696 made in 1925.
Very nice condition throughout averaging about 95% original finishes. I think the bluing shows slightly better than that overall and has especially nice finish on the bottom metal for this particular model. The wood rates a bit less due to some scattered scrapes, most notably on the off bolt side where it got laid down the most. There is also a sling rash near the front swivel stud, but still very clean for a nearly 100 y.o. rifle!
This fine rifle has miraculously steered clear of the host of value killing modifications we frequently see on this model such as extra drill holes, grotesquely altered bolt handles, recoil pads, etc. etc.
The bore is excellent and all mechanical functions crisp and proper. The barrel channel is clean and unaltered.
Correct factory issued sights include a pinned, beaded blade front on integral post ramp, and a folding Lyman 6W rear.
A very worthy and desirable example of this forerunner to the world reknowned Model 70.
