Manufactured off of surplus Model 1867 pistol actions, these rifles were designed for use by cadets. The rifle features a blade front sight and a blued steel forend tip. The right side of the receiver is marked "P/F.C.W." These guns were assembled by Remington and sold through Hartley & Company somewhere around 1903 to 1904. In 1860, Schuyler, Hartley & Graham was the largest firearms dealer in the United States. Jacob Rutsen Schuyler (1816-1887), Marcellus Hartley (1828-1902) and Malcolm Graham (1832-1899) incorporated their company on March 1, 1854. In 1876 Schuyler retired from the company and by 1880 they changed the name to Hartley and Graham. Malcolm Graham died in December 1899 and the company was reincorporated as M. Hartley Company. Marcellus Hartley died on January 8, 1902. The action on these rolling block rifles was extremely strong and could easily withstand the increased pressure of the new smokeless powders coming into use by the late 1880s. The Remington Rolling Block had a sturdy, simple action that was relatively inexpensive, just what many governments wanted in the latter half of the 19th Century. The overall condition is good. Original finish. The action is excellent. The bore is bright with sharp rifling. The stock shows use. The fore stock is original, but the butt stock is an old replacement and the receiver tangs have been altered to fit. The rear of the fore stock on either side has been repaired and there is a repaired chip on the left side of the butt stock in the corner made by the butt plate. Cleaning rod absent. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 28 inches. Caliber: .50 Centerfire Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE.
