This may very well be the most unusual find of my collecting career. I just got in a Winchester Model 12 Delux Grade 28 Gauge that is totally as new and unfired. I purchased this gun from a close friend who has owned the gun for over 40 years. He purchased the gun from Old English Outfitters, put the gun away and never fired it. It still has the hang tag that was on the gun when he purchased it at least 40 years ago. Talk about a time capsule, this is it! According to the serial number it was one of the last Model 12's built in 1963. After talking to many people about this gun I have come to the conclusion that this gun was put together from remaining parts in the factory thus explaining the solid rib barrel with 2 7/8 inch chamber, the older style grip cap, etc. I have read that this happened as they were coming to the end of the run of Model 12's and I feel someone ordered a 28 gauge and they put this gun together for them. The wood on this gun is fabulous as is the checkering. There are several ways to identify an original Model 12 in 28 gauge, one being the crimped magazine tube, which this of course has. The other being the small part on the inside of the receiver which is notched and stamped on only the 28 gauge guns. Take a look at the pictures and I think you will agree this is one special gun for the serious Model 12 collector. There can't be too many solid rib, 28 gauge, unfired guns in existence, especially one with this caliber of wood and special features. Again, this gun is exactly the way it was when my friend purchased it many years ago. Additional pictures may be requested. Price of this extremely rare gun is $8500 plus $100 shipping to your FFL.
