Williamson with an intriguing past “On her majesty’s service”. Scalloped action with specially carved stock where it mates with the scallops on the action body. Very highly figured French walnut stock and forearm and splinter forearm. No. 14361 was made 1896 – 97 as a lightweight action. Double triggers, auto safety, side clips and very nicely engraved. Cased in a canvas & leather case with C.B. Vaughan label. Vaughan was a local sporting goods dealer serving the upscale clientele working in the center of London. At 6lb 2oz this twelve bore was easy to carry for a day afield. The 28” sleeved barrels have a top extension for strength and are Birmingham nitro proofed for 2-1/2” shotshells and 1-1/8 oz loads. Rumors notwithstanding to the contrary low pressure 2-1/2” cartridges are being imported by Game Bore and ARMUSA and are also available from RST Shells. The right barrel is bored 0.728 with a constriction of 0.012 for Improved Cylinder choke. Minimum wall thickness is 0.033. The left barrel is also bored 0.728 and has a constriction of 0.038 for Full choke. Minimum wall thickness is 0.031. The straight grip stock and splinter forearm are made of exceedingly well figured French walnut and has a thin horn buttplate. The area where the stock mates with the scallops in the frame has special carving and checkering. Stock dimensions are 14-3/8” by 1-5/8” by 2-1/4”. Cast off for the righthand shot. A handsome lightweight double gun with an intriguing back story. Very highly figured stock with special carving and checkering. Nicely engraved and quick handling.
