Documented H&R WWII Early .22 Training Rifle
Offered here for sale and just acquired is this H&R REISING 65 made during WWII . These .22LR training rifles were contracted for the U.S. military from 1942-1944. This specimen is all original and in Near MINT condition. The original parkerized finish on metal has only a few storage marks. The rifle appears UNFIRED. It has its original rear target peep sight. The wood is EXCEPTIONAL.. SERIAL NUMBER 302 this specimen is documented to have been a part of the collection of Pete Kuhlhoff, long time editor of Argosy Magazine and the metal collection numbered tag denotes it was from Kuhlhoff’s collection. The Model 65 was also made for commercial use but DID NOT HAVE parkerized finish not “U.S. PROPERTY” stamped on it. We have found in our research that SN 300 was U.S. PROPERTY marked, parkerized and was also in Kuhlhoff’s collection. We will offer to the winning a documentation letter denoting both rifles came from the same collection. NOTE: The rifle has its original factory H&R marked 10 round magazine which has some wear but original factory. 22”barrel. Semi-auto. HISTORY: THE REISING WAS DEVELOPED AS THE FIRST SEMI AUTO RIFLE THE NEW U.S.M.C RECRUIT USED ON THE FIRING LINE BEFORE HE RECEIVED THE MI GARAND, THE FIRST 1000 UNITS WENT TO PARIS ISLAND IN 1944. THE REISING HAS THE CORRECT PARKERIZING ON THE BUTT PLATE/TRIGER GUARD/MAGAZINE PLATE/STOCK NUT.
