A Scarce & Very Early 1/2 Plate Ambrotype Image Of A Pre Civil War Maine Militiaman In Full Dress Uniform Including An 1851 Style Shako With Plumes Of White Feathers In Nice Untouched Condition. All original and complete. The image is clear throughout. It has some very light crazing in a couple of small spots. He is wearing his full uniform including his epaulettes & shako with white feathers. His helmet has a stamped brass eagle with a "Co. A" letter underneath it. His buckle has a five pointed star on it. The original case has some damage on the left cover side in the upper corner as shown in the photo. This Is A Very Early 1850's Pre Civil War 1/2 Plate Ambrotype Of A Main Militiaman In His Full Dress Uniform. This Rare 1/2 Plate Image Was Published In A Book And Was In The Bedford Hayes Collection At One Time!
