An Early Civil War Type Ladder Badge Finely Inscribed To "Frederick H. Nichols", "Co. H, Conn. 21st Infantry" In Fine Untouched Condition. All original and complete. The badge is fine throughout & clearly marked as shown in the pictures. The badge is nicely engraved. There is also a pair of crossed muskets engraved on the bottom piece of the badge. The badge is 2 3/4 inches in height and is 1 3/4 inches wide. 
     Frederick H. Nichols enlisted on 9/5/1862 and was discharged for disability on 6/10/1865. The Conn. 21st Infantry had very good history during the civil war. The lost 55 men and 5 officers in battle.Some of the battles included: Fredericksburg, VA, Suffolk, VA, Portsmouth, VA, Smithfield, VA, Drewry's Bluff, VA, Bermuda 100, VA, Cold harbor, VA, Petersburg, And VA, Chapin's Bluff, VA".
