There is also a five pointed star with an "8" inside it engraved on the bottom piece of the badge. The badge is 2 1/2 inches in height and is 1 3/4 inches wide. Joseph S. Walker Enlisted On "9/12/1861" and mustered out on "9/13/1864." The 34th Ohio had very good history in the civil war. They lost 10 officers and 120 men in battle during the war.
