Description:
This is the model 1909 Fencing Bayonet featuring a 16 inch spring steel blade with leather covered tip. This bayonet is pictured and described on page 103 of Brophy's Springfield 1903 Rifles book and page 236 #1 in Janzen's bayonets. The bayonet is in excellent condition with the majority of the original black finish remaining. The leather tip is in very good condition with sound stitching that has only loosened slightly in the first two stitch loops and is marked "H E K" inspectors initials. A rare bayonet for the advanced collector.
