An unusual Family Collection Piece that rarely comes up for sale in the US: Wilson Match Master Super Grade II; .38 Special Target/Race Gun by Wilson Custom Guns of London, England (established in 1981) – this example built on a Smith & Wesson Model 64-5; Serial Number BEJ 96XX; making the S&W Frame Manufacture Date 1989 (approximately). Theaddress for Wilson/London is: ://wilsoncustomguns/history.html page photos with prices of other currently marketed revolvers are for reference and comparison, only. This is an All-Stainless (except for Sights & Rib); Double-Action-Only Revolver; with Triangular Profile 6-Inch Heavy-Barrel with Deep Target Crown; and Aristocrat Rib having their Rapid-Adjustment, 3-Position Front Sight – regulated for .38 Special Target Wadcutter Loads. Company info says the following: “Sprung ball-lock to the crane for tight cylinder lock-up. [note added: this replaces the factory detent, removed from the front of the barrel-lug/ejector rod interface during customizing]; Cylinder aligned, timed and tightened; Cylinder chamfering for speed-loaders; Tuned double-action; Adjustable trigger stop with rubber damper to cushion the over-travel at release to reduce trigger snatch.” This revolver has oversize, non-checkered target grips of unknown manufacture. The cloth adhesive tape and fabric wrapped around the front strap appear to assure a tight fit of the grips. British Nitro Proof Marks are stamped on the bottom of the frame just ahead of the trigger guard (Flaming Torch or Bomb with Script “L” in the Circle); and NP (Nitro Proof) next to LP/91 (London Proof 1991) marks on the underside of the barrel, just ahead of the frame. Inside the Ejector Rod Housing/Barrel Lug the words: “DGR SPARKS MD” – which we think stands for the importer, Duffy’s Gun Room in Sparks, MD. Weight is just under 60 oz. For comparison, a 6-Inch S&W Model-29 44 Magnum weighs 48.3 oz. This Competition-Ready revolver shows honest wear for use over the past 30+ years, and we will leave judgment of condition to the photos.
