Synopsis: Phenomenal, Persian Military 98-29 Rifle, Matching Test Target and Bayonet. Description: An extraordinary, near new, Persian military 98-29 rifle, caliber 8x57 (8mm Mauser), serial number 1678d (translated from Farsi). This rifle has a 29" barrel with a blade front sight with protective ears, and a tangent rear sight with Farsi graduations. This Brno manufactured rifle has an ornate Persian lion crest on the top of the receiver. Both sides marked with Farsi/Persian inscriptions. All visible parts have matching serial numbers. There are no visible import markings. Metal components with rich original blue, the stock heavily varnished as correct for this rifle. Complete with its original cleaning rod, bottom mounted sling swivels, and MATCHING BAYONET. The included test target dated September 22, 1934 is numbered to a different rifle. Condition: Unbelievable 98% original blue/fire blue with comparable condition wood, having only a few scattered handling marks. The same phenomenal condition applies to the bayonet. Oil stained test target. It would be absolutely impossible to upgrade this ensemble, short of finding one with a matching test target.
