Description:
Serial #38111, .41 Swiss RF, 33" barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This is a handsome rifle that retains 90-92% of the original browned finish along the barrel, with some mild silvering at the muzzle from bayonet wear. The receiver retains a commensurate amount of the original, vivid color case-hardening, and the bolt shroud has bright original blue remaining with some mild brown surface freckling throughout. The nosecap and barrel bands have similar amounts of original blue remaining, while the trigger guard has a mottled gray patina with traces of color remaining. The walnut stock and checkered forend have scattered minor handling marks and blemishes throughout the otherwise fine original military oil finish. The original arsenal stamps are still crisp and clear, while the steel buttplate retains some original blue on the otherwise pewter gray metal. This is a splendid Swiss Vetterli with lots of original finish remaining, and is in excellent condition. It would make a wonderful addition to any collection. Antique;
