This is a beautiful Model 70 Target Rifle Heavy Barrel in 30-06. I have owned this for many years and have only fired it a handful of times. It is extremely accurate! I have always owned these target models because i value their accuracy and appearance. My experience with both pre and post 64 variants leads me to believe there is no difference in their performance.
This rifle is in excellent condition. The bluing is 98% with little to no imperfections. The bore is excellent. The wood is excellent as well with no splits or chips. All in all this is an outstanding example. Based on serial number this looks to be made by Winchester in 1971.
The rifle has weaver bases on the receiver to accept modern scopes. It also has redfield bases on the receiver and muzzle to accept micrometer iron sights.
If you are looking for a great shooting, highly accurate model 70 target at a reasonable price you need to consider this rifle.
